Digital Convergence
Accelerating the Pathway to Modern Learning
The mission of the Digital Convergence team is to support schools throughout the district by providing quality digital resources and online instruction that enhances the learning experience for students.
Hall County Content Specialists build both teacher and student-facing digital content for teachers. The teacher-facing content can be accessed on LaunchPoint via the elementary or middle/high content site tiles. The student-facing content is located in Canvas Commons and available for teachers to import into their respective Canvas courses to then be integrated into lessons. These resources provide teachers with content that can be used as whole group, small group, or individual instruction. The content can be utilized by teachers to support blended learning strategies to better engage students and make instruction more relevant and authentic. In addition to building the content, specialists are also available to meet at schools to provide professional learning to teachers on best practices that effectively utilize the resources to promote blended-learning format.
Hall County eCourses offer high-quality high school courses delivered in an online format. eCourses enable students to learn and apply curricular standards while gaining vital 21st Century skills. All eCourse instructors are Hall County teachers who work directly with their students via online communication tools. eCourse instruction takes place over the Internet, using Canvas, the Hall County School District’s learning management system, which is accessible from any location with an Internet connection. Students follow weekly plans, created by eCourse instructors, to complete lessons and assignments. There are a variety of assignments, which include writing activities, voice recordings, tests, quizzes, projects, and discussion-based assessments.
The BLaST team at each Hall County school is comprised of a leader and a representative group of teachers that lead professional learning to support teachers in effectively integrating digital resources and blended learning strategies. BLaST leaders are also responsible for building processes at their respective schools to meet the BLaST goal on the Hall County School District Balanced Scorecard.
